Doing art for arts sake. This project was for no client, no purpose. I wanted to create art for arts sake, and have exploring new techniques and digital painting styles. The characters are personas of stereotypical Spy-types I find interesting. Characters from left to right: Samantha (secret agent), Scarlet (Undercover Agent), Roberts (Double agent)

This is my entry for TheArtOrder “Eowyn Vs Nazgul” Challenge.
I just recently became aware of this outstanding website, which is run by the Art director for Wizards of the Coast. What really intrigued my was that he is a real person, with a real passion for art. I always imagined Art directors for large companies could easily convince themselves that they are above us lowly artists. I am thoroughly impressed that Jon takes the time to review submitted artwork, makes critiques, and comments.

Some character concept designs for Dungeons and Dragons. I was focusing on showcasing three things with each individual image. Race, Class, and a class power. I am really happy with the way these turned out. Like most artists that play D&D (I’m sure) These are representations of my gaming groups characters. In sequential order we have; Sryke Longlaw, Eleryia, Cannagen, and Tempest (who is a feisty elf that likes to throw unexpected punches to the jaw!)

New cool characters for Prison Planet 2.
I have been hard at worki creating illustrations, sounds, interfaces, and concepts for the newest BattleCritters game called Prison Planet. For mere information you can check out the exciting Tower Defense game at the BattleCritters Prison Planet website. I love how this game really ties in the human suffering and role reversal that makes the BattleCritters universe so fun. Let me know what you think, and hey, go play the game too!
The crew of the Galaxia is led by Captian Wedgetooth, the best pilot in the known universe.
Here are some screenshot/storyboard concepts for the upcoming BattleCritters Frey webisode. This one is going to be really good. Like always I just can’t keep quiet, so here are a few images to tide viewers over until the movie is complete. (I like the spelling error on “Bride of the Galaxia”, it should say “Bridge of the Galaxia”)
The opening of the movie begins with an awesome establishing shot of the lunar colony being bombarded and attacked from every direction. This is the background matte illustration that is used in that scene.
Due to my work on BattleCritters, NickBarfuss.com has suffered in updates. Here is a Retro Nintendo-esque Box cover for the Newest BattleCritters game called Contingency. Thanks to all my great friends who have been playing, giving feedback, and supporting me. I hope to see you soon when Frey and Flux are released!
